The Chelsea Open Air Nursery

Year | 2002
Location | London, UK
Client | Chelsea Open Air Nursery School and Children’s Centre

Chelsea Open Air Nursery is one of four nursery schools in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea for boys and girls aged from 3 to 5 years old. During this 2-year period, the children are taught and prepared for primary school and usually leave the nursery prior to their 5th birthday.

However, it seems that more focused teaching for children capable of higher attainment, especially in literacy skills. The nursery is very organised where nursery officers have clearly defined roles and governors play a more active role in the life of the school. It is evident that the children are given increased opportunities to take responsibility and they respond well to these. All the staff at the nursery work efficiently and harmoniously together as a team and the school can be envisaged in the future as an even better education centre.
