Client | Sheffield City Council

Sheffield City Council engaged the Live Project Team to provide a fresh view of the potential development opportunities which Castlegate Market offers, researching into the sites history and archaeological remains. Design work arising out of this would provide an alternative strategy to the current EDAW proposals which recognises:

a. The importance of Sheffield’s heritage;
b. Current trends in shopping and city living;
c. Creates a landmark gateway development of appropriately high architectural quality.

Our approach has been to fix aspects of a framework which we consider to be vital to the successful future of the local area and the wider context of the city centre; and consider hows the castle site fits into the current city framework and whether it might become a pivotal development within Sheffield’s new identity.
